Arkansas River Master Plan Phase- 2

Alaback Design played a vital role on the planning team for the second phase of the master plan for the Arkansas River corridor. Public participation was a vital part of the planning process to ensure that the master plan reflected the needs of five communities connected by this segment of the Arkansas River. Following an analysis of natural features, conceptual development plans were created for eight strategic locations that were identified as opportunity sites. Redevelopment of the West Bank area at the existing River Parks Festival Park was also included as a key study area. Proposed development for the eight sites included activities such as a baseball stadium, festival park expansion, riverfront shops, boardwalks, sports complexes, and marinas. The diverse sites also accompanied passive uses such as nature parks, trails, and presentation of key environmental habitats.
