Mohawk Park Master Plan
Mohawk Park Master Plan
Alaback Design created a master plan for Mohawk Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the nation, which spans over four miles in length and encompasses 2,800 acres. Based upon an understanding of the park’s unique assets and desired uses, conceptual development options were prepared to illustrate proposed use zones, activities and major circulation patterns. The final master plan for Mohawk Park retains the mostly passive activity centers in areas of Mohawk Park with new “active” uses added to the east end of the park. The proposed circulation system integrates scenic drives with an expanded multi use trail system. An important component of the plan includes the enhancement of the 800-acre Oxley Nature Center. Key proposals in the master plan include an area for expansion of the Tulsa Zoo, a central lawn for family activities, disc golf, a dog park and a festival area that includes a large pavilion and amphitheater, an equestrian area, fishing docks, and a marina at Lake Yahola.
